Why Mold Sampling is Pointless

Welcome to Mold Truth, your Environmental Consulting Partner

  • NO SCIENCE:

Despite common belief, there is NO science behind mold sampling, and it is basically made by the remediation industry. Mold sampling companies state this in their disclaimers.

In most cases, if visible mold growth or moisture is present, sampling is unnecessary. If you see mold, just remove it.

  • Since NO EPA or other FEDERAL limits have been set for mold or mold spores. Therefore sampling cannot be used to check a building’s compliance with federal mold standards.

  • This statement is confusing to most people because they believe mold sampling is an actual approved procedure by the EPA, and the sampling company’s claiming it’s real do not Properly clarify that they are not licensed or certified from the state licensed.

  • Sampling for mold should NOT be used for any recommendations when remediating mold or water. Mold sample companies state this in their small print.

  • WHAT IS SAMPLING USED FOR?

Remediaiton companies or [Private Certified] Sampling Companies use Mold sampling levels to increase the cost of mold remediation and are nothing more than a marketing tool to scare customers into unnecessary procedures and costs. READ MORE ON PRIVATE CERTIFICATIONS.

  • NO APPROVED INSTRUMENTS:

Many people have heard from their friends or family that you need to get mold sampling because when they had a remediation problem, this is what they did to determine the mold levels in their home. But all mold is removed the same way with the same products and the same techniques.

  • Are there federal regulations or standards regarding mold testing?

NO Standards or Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) for airborne concentrations of mold, or mold spores, have been set. Currently, there are NO EPA regulations or standards for airborne mold contaminants.
